EYE TUCK
BLEPHAROPLASTY
This is also known as the procedure to improve baggy or puffy eyelids. Aging, weight loss and congenital/genetic conditions are mostly responsible for excess eyelid skin from forming due to loss of elasticity of supporting tissues in the eyelids. Fat pockets in the eyelids also become more prominent. Excess skin on the upper eyelids can cause reduced vision due to the weight of the skin closing the vertical eye aperture. Then this becomes a functional and cosmetic procedure.
Excess skin is surgically removed through incisions (cuts) that fall in the upper eyelid crease and just below the lower eyelid lashes where they are well hidden and almost disappear over the next year. After removal of the skin, excess fat pockets are removed, and the skin incisions closed with sutures. In younger patients or those who do not have excess lower eyelid skin, the fat pockets are removed from the inside of the lower eyelid called the transconjunctival technique.
The result is a fresh youthful look without people noticing the signs of surgery, but rather complimenting patients wondering how this improvement came about – this we hear from patients who underwent the procedure.
PROMINENT EAR REPAIR
Also referred to as “bat ears”. This is mostly performed in children before they start school to save them the teasing from other children. Often it is performed in adults both male and female for various reasons.
A strip of excess skin is removed from the back part of the ear, where-after the cartilage is re-positioned in a more normal position by means of cuts and stitches. The skin is also stitched, and the resultant scar is well hidden in the fold behind the ear.
